Key findings
The ErgoChair Pro and Ultra 2 moved to lifetime warranties in April 2026, and chairs bought earlier keep two-year cover; the Desk Pro frame is also lifetime.
Most products get a 30-day trial with a prepaid return label in the 48 contiguous states; flash-sale, clearance, oversized, bulk and pod orders are excluded.
Returns without the original packaging, or dropped at the carrier more than a week after the trial ends, incur a 30 percent restocking fee.
The Desk Pro’s lifetime warranty covers the frame only; its tabletop, like every Autonomous tabletop, is covered for two years.
The homepage now leads with AI computers, robots and toys; desks and chairs sit under an Office tab.
Range overview
Autonomous began as a standing-desk maker and still sells desks and ergonomic chairs direct from autonomous.ai, with offices listed in New York, San Francisco, Shenzhen and Saigon. The legal entity named in its policies is Smart Office. The office range is three chairs (ErgoChair Pro, ErgoChair Ultra 2, ErgoChair Core), standing desks led by the Desk 2 and the sensor-equipped Desk Pro, and backyard office pods priced like a small car. More recently the brand has rebuilt itself as an “AI hardware workshop”: the homepage now sells local AI computers, a robotic lamp, agent-control gadgets and toys, with desks and chairs one click deeper. Buyers are mostly remote workers and developers who want a mid-priced motorized desk or mesh chair and are comfortable assembling flat-pack furniture.

ErgoChair Pro BUY
The long-running mesh chair, now listed at $499 with free shipping and a 30-day return. The spec sheet lists synchro-tilt with 22 degrees of recline locking at five points, a lumbar pad that slides along the backrest, adjustable seat depth and headrest, and a 300 lb capacity. On-site reviews include several from owners at four to six years. The warranty is now lifetime, which is a strong offer at this price, though the policy page notes it applied to purchases from April 2026 and earlier chairs keep two years. The seat foam is described by Autonomous itself as firm on purpose.
StrengthLifetime warranty and full adjustment for under $500
WeaknessFirm seat by design; older buyers keep only two years of cover
Listed at $449, oddly $50 below the Pro despite a four-layer seat with polymer coil springs, a flexing backrest, 25 degrees of recline, 4D armrests and a 320 lb capacity. It also carries a lifetime warranty for purchases after mid-April 2026 and averages 4.5 stars across a few hundred on-site reviews. The frame is ABS plastic rather than metal. A one-star Trustpilot review from January 2026 describes an Ultra 2 whose parts were misaligned by a full inch during assembly and a manual for the wrong model, so inspect it closely inside the trial window.
StrengthSprung seat and 4D arms at a lower price than the Pro
WeaknessPlastic frame and some quality-control complaints
The best-reviewed product in the catalogue, at 4.7 stars across several thousand on-site reviews. It lists at $449 with a 53 by 29 inch top and free shipping, with a 70.5-inch Expanse size and black, white, white oak or bamboo surfaces. The spec sheet lists dual motors, a 250 lb capacity, anti-collision and noise under 45 dB. The frame warranty is 10 years and the top two years. A clear pick for most home offices. One trap: the 70.5-inch Expanse counts as oversized, so its return shipping comes out of your refund.
StrengthTen-year frame warranty and a long record of good reviews
WeaknessThe larger Expanse size loses the free return
The newer C-frame desk at $499, only $50 more than the Desk 2. The Pro lifts 330 lb with 19 inches of travel; a Pro AI version lifts 450 lb, travels 29.25 inches and adds sensors for CO2, particulates, VOCs and noise, read in an app. Autonomous publishes a TÜV Rheinland stability report, which few rivals do. The product page badge says lifetime warranty, but the spec table limits that to the frame and gives the top two years. The sensors are a nice extra; they are not a reason to buy a desk. Check the Pro AI price at checkout.
StrengthLifetime frame warranty and a published stability test
Weakness“Lifetime warranty” badge excludes the tabletop
The entry chair at $299, with a dual backrest, 3D armrests, recline to 40 degrees, PU touchpoints and a 242.5 lb capacity. It averages 4.1 stars from a few dozen on-site reviews, the weakest score in the range, and its warranty is two years rather than lifetime. That gap matters: the Ultra 2 costs $150 more but carries a lifetime warranty, a sprung seat and a higher weight rating. Unless the budget is fixed at $300, the cheaper chair is the poorer deal. The product page also notes that flash-sale purchases lose the 30-day return.
StrengthLowest price in the range with a headrest and adjustable arms
WeaknessTwo-year warranty against lifetime on the next chair up
A 102 sq ft insulated backyard office listed at $20,900, with optional solar panels, battery and a Starlink dish. Autonomous says it sits below the permit threshold in most US cities and installs in one to two days; local rules are yours to check. The terms are thin for this money: one year on materials and workmanship, one year on the solar system, no 30-day trial and no returns. The pod page advertises free shipping while the shipping policy says pods do not get free shipping. A short garden-office warranty at a car’s price is hard to recommend.
StrengthFast install and no foundation work for a real room
WeaknessOne-year warranty and no returns on a $20,900 purchase
Free ground shipping on most items to the 48 contiguous states; pods and oversized excluded
Returns
30 days from delivery, prepaid label; many exclusions; 30% restocking fee without original packaging

Caveats
A 30 percent restocking fee applies if the original packaging is missing or damaged, or if the return reaches the carrier more than a week after the trial ends.
Flash-sale, clearance, bulk (five or more items or over $1,500), oversized desk, custom and pod orders cannot be returned under the trial, and Hawaii and Alaska orders cannot be returned at all.
Damage and missing parts must be reported within one week of delivery, and the warranty excludes foam flattening, fading and pilling as normal wear.
Crypto refunds are paid at the current exchange rate, not the rate on the day you paid.
The customer record
Trustpilot rates Autonomous Inc 4.5 ‘Excellent’ across a few thousand reviews, with a large five-star majority and a smaller one-star group. Trustpilot reports that the company replies to most negative reviews within about a week. On-site reviews are strongest for the Desk 2 and ErgoChair Pro, and several owners report chairs still working after four to six years.
The one-star reviews from late 2025 to October 2026 follow a pattern. Desks arrive scratched or damaged, or with missing screws, and replacements are described as slow. Some describe a desk that lifts on one side only or stops moving. Assembly guides draw repeated criticism, including a manual for the wrong chair model. On returns, one buyer learned that a flash-sale purchase was excluded from the 30-day trial, and cancelled-order refunds took weeks for others. Named support agents are praised in positive reviews.

Our call
Autonomous still sells some of the best-value desks and chairs online, and the 2026 move to lifetime warranties on its better chairs and the Desk Pro frame is real progress. The catch is the fine print: a 30 percent restocking fee, a long list of non-returnable orders, a one-week window to report damage, and a company whose attention has drifted to AI gadgets. Buy the Desk 2 or ErgoChair Pro at full price, keep every box, and avoid flash sales. Verdict: CONSIDER.
